There have been many modern advances in the past 100 years in weapons and armoured transport, although this has had a great effect on the time taken to get the soldier into action and the effectiveness of his weapons on his target when he reaches it. The burden he has to carry once he has to leave his ARV or helicopter has hardly changed. At around 70lbs (the weight of a suit of armour) This book looks at the 1937 Pattern Web Equipment that helped the soldier carry his load from the early days of World War 2 and on into the 1970`s. This is part of a series that will also include 1908 and 1944 pattern equipment using period War Office handbooks and photos of equipment from my own collection.
